Arizona foster child Destiny experienced a dream come true this week, and it’s all thanks to a pint-sized entrepreneur who wanted to give another child the magical trip of a lifetime.
Foster child Destiny thought she was heading to the Johnjay and Rich radio show for a meet and greet hosted by #LoveUp, an organization that brings greater awareness to the vital need for foster care.
But Ahwatukee 8-year-old Xavier was waiting in the wings to surprise her with something even more magical: a trip to the Wizardly World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios in California.
After visiting the Wizardly World of Harry Potter earlier this year, Xavier realized that not all children have the same opportunities, so he raised money to help someone who hadn’t had the opportunity to experience the attraction. The Arizona Department of Child Safety then found a recipient for this lovely effort in Destiny, whose love of Harry Potter helped her and her grandmother get through challenging times.
While Xavier raised money through bake sales and selling handmade wands, the community rallied to support him, with generous donations toward travel from American Airlines, Choice Hotels and Lyft to help ensure Xavier’s funds went directly to the Harry Potter World experience.
